5.5-5.11.26: Stylin’ with the Pages

Each week, after pulling cards for the collective reading, there’s usually a moment or two (or sometimes several hours!) where I sit with the energy of the cards and consider how they apply to my life. After all, I am a member of the “collective” too! :) More often than not, I notice a connection and a message begins to develop. Sometimes it connects to something happening in my life or to something I’ve read, other times it connects to the Astrology of the moment—sometimes all of the above!

This week’s Tarot Teachers are the Page of Wands and the Page of Cups. Some themes that come to mind when I see these two playful pals side-by-side: Youthful energy, curiosity, beginner’s mind, growth mindset (as opposed to “fixed”), openness, enthusiasm, discovering (or re-discovering) what lights you up, inner child, creative expression.

The connection I made this week might seem a little “surface level,” but I promise it’s not… It’s clothes! Stick with me here, because I am *so* not your typical fashion girlie. But after treating myself to a birthday color analysis session with Georgia Giguere of House of Color, I am suddenly finding myself inspired to spruce up my wardrobe and present myself in a way that better reflects who I am on the inside. I learned that I am an Autumn: Warm. Vibrant. Rich. Earthy. Those are the words that describe my personal colors. Words that I very much identify with, but that are most definitely not reflected in my everyday clothing choices. I typically wear a lot of black, grey, and neutrals. Mostly solids. Jeans, sweaters, comfy over couture. And there’s nothing wrong with that!

But I got to thinking about what words I might use to describe my desired aesthetic—the way that I aspire to present myself to the world.

Words like Cool, Confident, Interesting, Eclectic, Creative, Playful, and Whimsical. Identifying the vibe I’m going for has helped me start making more intentional choices. And the more I dress in my colors and experiment with my personal style, the more I realize that this isn’t just about how I look. It’s about integrity—matching my outsides to my insides. It’s about getting dressed for me, not for anyone else. Which can be vulnerable and will likely take some experimentation. But I’m having fun with it! And this all feels very Page of Wands/Page of Cups to me (I mean, besides fitting with the themes I mentioned above, just look at those bold outfit choices! The boots, the leggings, the scarf, the tunic, the belt, the volume of those sleeves, the HATS 😆)…

I have started following fashion influencers whose aesthetic I’m into, and one throughline I’m noticing is this idea of “dopamine dressing,” wearing clothes, colors, and textures that intentionally boost your mood, spark joy, and increase confidence. Hell yeah!

A few IG fashion accounts that have been inspiring me lately:

  • @chelseagettingdressed — The pattern-mixing! The layering! The bold colors! This is “dopamine dressing” embodied (and the person I picked up the term from). This account also introduced me to the groundbreaking idea that when you’re dressing to please yourself, “flattering” does not necessarily have to be the goal. 🤯

  • @vivthecarer — A prime example of how you can harness youthful, playful energy no matter what your age.

  • @sachabbeck — While her style choices don’t exactly align with my vibe, that’s not the point for me. Her whole thing is “Let’s get dressed to take up space.” 👈🏻That F*** The Patriarchy, confident feminist audacity is what it’s all about.

✅Current goals: Dressing in my season as much as possible and adding color, patterns, and fun accessories to my wardrobe.
☑️Future goals: Thrifting, buying local, buying vintage, investing in higher quality pieces that will last over “fast fashion.” Baby steps.

The Pages invite you to get a little creative and dress for your inner child this week! Let us know in the comments if you try it…
