My favorite way to provide therapy

I have been learning about, talking about and witnessing the benefits of Walk + Talk therapy for over a decade now. Over the years, my sessions have taken place in and around clients’ neighborhoods, nature reserves, parks, city streets, trails, paths, and office buildings.

When therapy takes place on a walk, clients report feeling at ease and like therapy is more approachable. They’ve shared that conversation flows more smoothly and that they find it easier to open up and share their thoughts and feelings while walking.

Clients oftentimes report leaving Walk + Talk sessions inspired and with ideas for what steps (pun very much intended) they want to take toward their healing and growth.

I of course love to hear this feedback… and when these sentiments are shared with me, I enthusiastically nod my head in agreement… Because I see this to be true in my clients, and also because I experience this truth in myself. Walk + Talk therapy is my favorite and most effective way to provide therapy. The very same benefits my clients experience are also being experienced by me. When we walk, it gives me a chance to generate better questions, allow for longer stretches of quiet between thoughts, and provide meaningful responses and feedback. I’m so passionate about Walk + Talk therapy because it brings out the best in you AND me!
