It’s that time of year again… Back to school! Does that phrase fill you with dread or excitement? Maybe a little bit of both? For me, it feels bittersweet. The ending of summer and the niggling regrets that come with all I imagined it would be and all that was left undone. The nostalgic pang as I watch my second grader walk away from my car and towards his school, a big glob of keychains clanging around on his still slightly too-big-for-him backpack. The “just one more hug” request from my almost-three year-old in the doorway of his new classroom at preschool (the same doorway I remember hugging my oldest in like it was just yesterday!). And at the same time, the exciting promise of possibility hangs in the air—as tangible and real as a crisp, never opened notebook or the wood-and-lead scent of those freshly sharpened #2 pencils.
For me, Virgo Season and Back to School season are one and the same.
Last week, I wrote about the closing of an energetic portal with the Lunar Eclipse in Pisces—which, quite fittingly connected to the Eight of Cups, a card about letting go and walking away from something you’ve poured your heart into. And as we all know, the closing of one door tends to lead to the opening of another…

I Googled the quote, because I’ve said it and heard it so many times throughout my life, but didn’t know where it actually came from. Turns out, its origins are a little fuzzy, but most people attribute it to Alexander Graham Bell. What I found more interesting than the person who said it, though, was the fact that most of us have only ever heard the clipped version of the quote. The full line is: "When one door closes another door opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." Which leads me to this week’s question for the Tarot:
What new doors are opening for us now? What potential does September have in store for us?

Mercury is the planet of communication. It is here to help you deliver or receive a message. So listen up! And don’t be afraid to speak your truth.
Channel the energy of The Magician this week—this month!—to move forward with confidence and clarity.
