12.9-12.15.2025: Ten of Wands

This morning after I finished spewing the entire up-and-down-rollercoaster-saga that has been my life the last few weeks, my therapist calmly posed this question: Is it made of glass or is it made of rubber?

Let me explain.

When you’re juggling so many things, as so many of us are right now—especially women, especially moms (I see you, Mama Claus! #santaisawoman), it can be tempting to just POWER THROUGH. To PERSEVERE. To STAY STRONG. “We’re so close to the holidays… The end of the year is in sight… Maybe things will finally slow down then…”

STOP. 🤚

Take stock of the things you are carrying—mentally, emotionally, physically (I am reminded of the art-book-turned-Instagram-trend Women Holding Things). Ask yourself: Is this made of glass or is it made of rubber? If I drop it, will it break or will it bounce? Is this responsibility/task/tradition/situation/relationship so precious and fragile that I need and want to protect it? Or is it resilient enough (or disposable enough) to let go of at this time?

We can’t carry it all. And we shouldn’t have to.

The Ten of Wands is a great reminder that, yes we are nearing the end, AND—you are still allowed to call in reinforcements. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to say no. It’s okay to delegate. It’s okay to set boundaries. It’s okay to change your mind. It’s okay to SET SOMETHING DOWN. Maybe you’ll pick it back up again at another time or maybe you won’t. And that’s okay.

You don’t have to carry it all on your own.
