Walking Together Is Medicine

Wise Womxn Walking Club - Wednesday Evening Walk!
Wednesday, July 29 | 5:30 PM | Meet at the Lift Bridge

Yes, you read that right — this one's a Wednesday evening walk. Step away from your to-do list, come shake off the day and end it side-by-side with other women who value connection and wellness. There's real power in closing out a long day together — and something to look forward to right in the middle of the week.

And the research backs this up: UCLA researchers found that women are wired to respond to stress not with fight-or-flight, but with "tend and befriend" — we seek out connection, especially with other women, which releases oxytocin, calms the nervous system, and buffers the effects of stress (Taylor et al., 2000, Psychological Review). And the Harvard Nurses' Health Study found that social connection isn't just comforting — it's protective: women with strong social ties had significantly better survival after a breast cancer diagnosis than women who were socially isolated (Kroenke et al., 2006, Journal of Clinical Oncology).

Translation: walking together is medicine — and the “together” part might be the most powerful ingredient.

Come as you are. We'll handle the rest.
