6.23-6.30.26: A Playdate with the Universe
I’ve been taking a little break from collective readings to focus on teaching HypnoBirthing® and to leave room for the extra busy-ness that comes during the summertime when you’re a Youth Librarian (and a mom). But I got a new Tarot deck that I just couldn’t wait to introduce to you all, so we’re back—at least for this week. :)
I don’t remember when the Instagram algorithm first started feeding me Stephanie Gilbert’s work, but watching her reimagine the classic Smith-Rider-Waite deck via collage has been both satisfying and inspiring. So when I learned that she’d be mass-producing the deck for sale to the public, you better believe I hopped on that waitlist! My Playdate with the Universe deck arrived last week and I am obsessed. (Side note: my husband asked me if buying a new Tarot deck meant I’d be getting rid of one… 🤣🤣🤣)
Something I am learning about myself is that I tend to take myself and my activities a little too seriously sometimes—I blame my Capricorn Rising. 😏 When I pull cards for myself, I tend to ruminate on the messages and get stuck in my head about it. I think it might be one of the reasons I don’t read for myself as much as I would like. I am hopeful that this playful deck will serve as a reminder to lighten up my personal spiritual practice a bit. After all, before it was ever used for divination or self-reflection, Tarot began as a simple card game played for fun.
With the spirit of fun in mind, I was so pleased to pull both The Sun and the Three of Cups for this week’s collective reading.
The message is simple: Enjoy yourself! Spend time doing things that light you up with people who bring out your favorite version of yourself.
As I write this, buckets of rain pummel the roof, punctuated by jarring booms of thunder. Although the forecast where I live is anything but sunny this week, we are invited to orient ourselves to the Sun. Whether that be literally (pop outside for a quick walk when there’s a break in the rain and the sun peeks out from the clouds) or figuratively (allow yourself to step out of the shadows and shine; do something a little bold; infuse light-hearted creativity and play into your daily routine). The Sun is calling you to step into its warmth. How will you orient yourself to the Sun this week?
I affectionately refer to the Three of Cups as the “Cheers, my dears” card. 🥂Very fitting for me, as my husband and I will be celebrating our fifteenth wedding anniversary on Thursday. 🥰 But even if you aren’t marking a milestone, this is your permission to FIND something to celebrate this week! If you don’t have a reason to gather, make one up. You don’t need an excuse to surround yourself with your people, but if you want one—here it is: the Tarot told you to do it! ;) Host a fancy dinner party or a PJ-friendly movie night in. Go out for drinks that turn into dancing. 💃🏻 If you haven’t found your people yet, here is your sign to put yourself out there and take a step towards friendship. Ask a coworker to join you for coffee. Reach out to an old buddy you haven’t chatted with in awhile. Join a club (might I suggest the Wise Womxn Walking Club? Next walk is coming up this Sunday!). Whatever you do, make it joyful, intimate, and most of all—FUN!
☀️Enjoy your week (rain or shine)!
