3.31-4.6.2026: April Fools’!

Tomorrow is April Fools’ Day and my six-year-old is SUPER excited for it this year for some reason. We’ve never been a “practical joker” type family, but I’ve been trying to embrace his excitement—cut to my Google search results for the past week: “kid-friendly pranks” “April Fool’s jokes for a six year-old” “good prank to pull on my husband that won’t piss him off” “good prank that won’t upset my toddler.” I think I’ve settled on sticking Googly eyes on the kids’ stuffies and our family photos, and serving the kids “orange juice” that is actually orange Jell-o with a straw stuck in it. My six-year-old has a Bluey-inspired garden hose prank in mind for my husband which may or may not completely backfire. I’ll keep you posted. ;)

So with my mind on April Fools’, I thought it would be fun to come up with a spread inspired by The Fool. As Card #0 in the traditional 78-card Tarot deck, The Fool kicks off the beginning of what’s often referred to as “The Fool’s Journey.” It is said that the 22 cards in the Major Arcana represent a metaphorical journey through life, as the Fool meets different archetypal figures and experiences quintessential life lessons along the way. The Fool represents new beginnings, risk, blind faith, taking a leap, spontaneity, naivety.

Like all of the cards in the Major Arcana, The Fool is chock full of symbolism. For this spread, I’m focusing on these four aspects:

  1. THE LEAP (The Risk/New Beginning) - Queen of Swords
What new adventure or risk am I taking? What is calling me to step into the unknown?

  2. THE PACK (What I Carry/Tools) - Knight of Cups
What knowledge, resources, or internal strengths am I taking with me on this journey?

  3. THE DOG (The Loyal Companion) - The Hanged One (XII)
Who accompanies me on this journey and keeps me from straying too far?

  4. THE PATH (The Unknown) - Page of Swords
What unexpected experience, lessons, or new horizon am I walking toward?

If it’s clarity you’re after, the best way to step into this journey is with confidence and vision, backed by a strong voice (Queen of Swords). Dress for the job you want, so to speak. But even if things begin in a straight-forward manner, the reality is that the path will inevitably be filled with unknowns, uncertainty, and, quite honestly, feeling like kind of a “newb” a good chunk of the time (Page of Swords). Your inclination may be to approach this self-discovery journey with as much logic and intellect as possible (Queen), but keep in mind that your search for the truth must also include curiosity (Page), creativity, and a healthy dose of romantic idealism (Knight of Cups). Let both your head AND your heart lead the way.

Your search for clarity and direction will not be linear or action-packed at all times. In fact, there will be plenty of moments when you feel quite stuck (The Hanged One). Notice when those road bumps hit and try your best to use them as opportunities to slow down, to recalibrate, to try viewing the situation from another angle. After all, sometimes those obstacles are there for a reason. Easy for me to say, I know. 🙃 I get it—stalling out is not comfy. But as one of my favorite Astrologers, Madi Murphy is fond of saying, “My block is my blessing.” Sit with the discomfort. Surrender to it. Let it provide a new perspective. And remember that this doesn’t have to be a solo journey. The loyal dog at the Fool’s side reminds us to find others who are “in it” with you. Who are perhaps muddling through their own journey of transformation, feeling like a newb and unsure as to how this all shakes out.

We can work with the Astrology of the moment to assist us in this leap. Wednesday’s Full Moon in Libra may be falling on April Fool’s Day, but it’s no joke. It’s inviting us to empty out whatever feels unaligned so we can begin anew with balance, harmony, and peace.

What leap will you take this week?
