5.26-6.1.26: Good is Here Right Now
Back-breaking Ten of Wands positioned across from heart-breaking Three of Swords with optimistic, gift-giving Ace of Pentacles wedged firmly in between? Today’s message is about finding contentment in the current moment, even amidst the heartbreak and overwhelm of it all.
Remember that one time when I suggested that the year 2026 may see us with “many irons in the fire”? If you are feeling yourself building to that Ten of Wands moment of overwhelm and burnout, you are not alone. I said it before and I’ll say it again: If you find yourself feeling like the figure in this card—weighed down by all the things you’re attempting to carry on your own—it may be time to call in reinforcements.
The Three of Swords has been showing up a lot in my readings lately. I recently shared about it in a Mama Moon reading, I pulled it for an individual reading in today’s #tarottuesday Instagram stories, and now here it is again. Most of us (myself included) groan when we see this card. After all, it’s not exactly pleasant. We see a giant red heart, stabbed through with three swords. Storm clouds loom in the background and rain streaks the grey sky. The Three of Swords is associated with feelings of heartache, separation, regret, grief, sorrow, loss, and trauma. It’s not exactly the lightest, most cheerful card in the Tarot. But as I am fond of saying—no card in the Tarot is “all good” or “all bad.” Here’s the thing about the Three of Swords: Swords are connected to the element of air, which relates to our logical self, our minds, communication. The fact that they are piercing the heart, the emotional self, tells us that sometimes our thoughts can cause more damage than the thing itself. Don’t add insult to injury by bullying yourself, piling on, or being overly critical. The wound hurts badly enough on its own. Let’s not rub salt into it, shall we? The other thing to keep in mind is that, cruel as the lesson may be, heartbreak is often our biggest teacher. Be gentle with yourself as the lesson reveals itself.
And smack-dab between the two challenging cards lies the Ace of Pentacles, dangling like a shiny object glittering with possibility and wonder. While I normally talk about the Aces as potential new opportunities ripe for the taking, today’s message is a little more nuanced. Today, the Ace of Pentacles reminds us to find the gifts that already exist; the possibilities that lie right here in the present moment—among the burden and grief, the everyday stressors and life’s micro-betrayals. Today, the Ace of Pentacles invites you to release “grass is always greener” mentality. Let go of the impulse to constantly be reaching for the next opportunity, the next best thing. Find the gift of the present moment and bloom where you’re planted. As Kendra Adachi says, “Good is here right now.” Right here in the messy middle.
