1.6-1.12.2026: This Little Light of Mine
Happy New Year! For our first collective reading of the year, I thought it would be fun to pull a Poesis Oracle card as inspiration for our theme. Today we received “Illuminate.” I asked the following questions and received the following cards:

🕯️What is being illuminated in this moment? Two of Wands
🕯️What will support me in lighting my own path? Ace of Pentacles
It's quite fitting that the first collective reading for the year includes the Two of Wands and Ace of Pentacles. Both point to new beginnings—which, for better or worse, tends to be kind of a thing this time of year. 🙃 If you’ve been following our newsletter, you know that Kari, Nicole, and I aren’t big on New Year’s Resolutions. We prefer to focus on a word of the year (or a number… Have you checked your Personal Year Number yet?). Like many people in the spirituality/wellness spheres, we prefer to live in tune with the season and save our action-oriented goals for closer to Spring Equinox, when the natural world is waking up again and reemerging from hibernation. But there’s absolutely nothing wrong with allowing the turning of the Gregorian calendar to kickstart something new in your life. Spoiler alert: any time is the right time to begin, so long as your will to shift something is present.
The Two of Wands tells us that a path forward is being illuminated. A journey awaits. It’s time to take the first step away from the comfort zone and into the unknown.
The Eight of Swords reminds us to check our thoughts. Are they mostly positive and encouraging? Or are you convincing yourself that you’re trapped, that you’re the victim, that you’re too small, too much, too ordinary, too (fill-in-the-blank)? Your mind is where manifestation begins. Thoughts become words become feelings, become actions, become REALITY. So quit telling yourself you're stuck. Embrace growth mindset. Reframe. After all, where your attention goes, your energy flows.
The Ace of Pentacles represents a fresh start. It encourages you to begin at the easiest, most obvious entry point. It dares you to put your money where your mouth is. Start investing in the areas of life you say you want to grow.
This doesn’t have to be a “New Year New You” situation. You are worthy, just as you are! Don’t force yourself into action if it doesn’t feel right. But if you desire a change, if you crave some newness, if you’ve been asking for direction—here’s your sign to begin. Start shifting your mindset now. Identify those areas of growth and possibility. Start taking baby steps towards those goals in whatever way feels appropriate to you in this season. You’ll be more poised to take off running when the Earth begins to thaw…
