The magic of it all…
If you’ve been following along, you are well aware by now of the many benefits of Walk + Talk therapy for your mental wellness. It’s been fun to sprinkle those concepts in along with the science to back it up. Something I haven’t spent much time talking about yet is the magic of it all. Not magic like stage magic… more like symbolic, spiritual, goose-bumpy-moments that happen when we’re out on the trail, kind of magic. When something appears that feels like it’s just for you.
A real-life example (shared with permission): I recently had a Walk + Talk session where a client was processing her feelings of grief at the recent passing of her mother and sharing how alone she felt. As we’re in the middle of walking and processing her experience, a Mama deer stepped out onto the path ahead of us. She stopped and stared at us, and we at her. It felt like the perfect, divine timing for this beautiful creature to make herself known. My clients tears turned into laughter as she shared how her mom always had a way of knowing when she needed to be checked in on, and it felt to her like this was a little wink from her Mom, letting her know she is always with her. This is one of many stories I could share about these magic little moments that happen more often than you’d think. And the thing is… there’s nothing magic about this process, but there is something powerful about
s l o w i n g d o w n and t u n i n g i n.
