Dust off those Happy Lamps!
Our September walking dates are here! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 16th @ 5:30pm and Sunday, September 20th @ 12:30pm.
As we feel the seasons start to shift, this is also the time of year I start encouraging clients to pull out their light therapy lamps and pay closer attention to vitamin D levels — being proactive rather than reactive, whether or not you experience seasonal affective disorder (SAD). A little preparation now can make a real difference come the shorter, grayer days ahead.
Walking Club is part of that proactive toolkit too. A 2024 review published in The BMJ found that exercise is an effective treatment for depression, with walking or jogging among the modalities showing the strongest benefit. Physical movement — especially outdoors — prompts our brains to release endorphins and other feel-good chemicals that naturally support mood. So as the days get shorter and the weather turns, keep showing up for your walks. It's not just good for the body — it's real, research-backed support for your mind. Hope to see you on 9/16!
Loved a Walking Club walk? Tell the world (or at least Google).
If you've come out to Walking Club and felt that sense of community — the kind where you show up not knowing anyone and leave with new friends — we'd be so grateful if you'd share that with a quick Google review.
It takes two minutes and helps other Wise Womxn find us when they're searching for exactly the kind of connection you found.
